MexiBrit, with invaluable support of the Mexico Embassy in the UK, UNAM UK, Movimientos and Hackney Bridge, are delighted to present 2 days of the most incredible Mexican celebration Día de Muertos, a celebration of life: the biggest festival of the Day of the Dead outside Mexico, this year taking Mexico’s Monarch butterfly, known to transport the souls of our ancestors as central point of inspiration.

Expect:  Culture, live music, Mexican street market, children & adults’ workshops, art, crafts, design, face painting, dance and many other great surprises.

This year the festival takes over Hackney Bridge unique outdoor and indoor spaces to showcase a vast array of Mexican Market stalls including arts, crafts and clothing as well as London’s most famous Mexican Food stalls (16 food stalls and 25 art and craft stalls), transporting everyone who passes by straight to Mexico.

All the spaces will be decorated for the occasion with plenty of installations by Studio Cactus by Viridiana Marín and By Vivi.

In the beautiful Nico’s Bar, you will find a heartfelt traditional ‘Ofrenda’ Lovingly created by UNAM UK.

In the outdoor areas, you will encounter an incredible parade featuring some of the UK’s Mexican and Latin American folk-dance groups carefully curated by This is Mexico. Live music will be on hand by Mariachi El Mexicano and Aztec Dance by Atlachinolli Group and Huitzomitl.

Children’s workshops will be on hand by Katapixia and El Recreo Spanish.

On Saturday night, Block C will host a Celebration of Life with bands & DJs TBA whilst Sunday will be focused on all ages, including families with a special show by Son Jarocho band Chapulines and more to be announced, tickets for both are on sale now:
