he UK Mexican Arts Society is opening on the 1st of October.
The purpose of the UK Mexican Arts Society is to promote British and Mexican Arts in the UK and Mexico.
We have the gallery space in Camden and in Mexico we have land outside Mexico City for residencies. We are also producing and organizing exhibitions and events in collaboration with institutions both in the UK and Mexico.
We also plan to acquire works of art by British artists to donate them to Public Mexican Institutions and vice versa to acquire works of art by Mexican artists to donate them to British public institutions.
We are inaugurating on the 1st of October with an exhibition by Melanie Smith in the gallery and with an exhibition of photography of Mesoamerica on a public space near the gallery.
Our programme in Mexico will be focused on contemporary British art while our programme in the UK will be focused on the arts from Mexico from antiquity to the present, including a third of the programme dedicated to the art of Mesoamerican cultures.
