Many Mexicans deny Cinco is celebrated in Mexico, but truth is… border towns do, they hold parades and celebrations for Battle of Puebla, as well as in Puebla itself, celebrating that battle won against the French back in 1862.
As it’s become a chance to celebrate Mexican culture around the world, we gear up to celebrate – From Home – this time, London’s very first Cinco de Mayo Fest, a celebration of border culture, we invited Mex and the City‘s Erika to tell us her London TOP 5:
Agave Bar – enough said!! Home of the Mirror Margarita
Lovely ladies behind this Mezcal den, full of good times and great music.
MiGA is a celebration of local British ingredients with a Mexican / California vibe. They do pop up supper clubs and private catering.
Fernando lives between London and Mexico and works with natural materials. His Pink Beasts installation during Miami Art Week 2019 was a favorite of ours. Fun fact – the fabric was dyed using cochineal insects ( the insects live on prickly pear cactuses) and he worked with a collective in Oaxaca to create the hammocks and the sloths.
Made in Mexico but born in London – Ely Hopkins statement jewellery pieces are divine.

And last but not least… Erika has prepared a Spotify playlist for us to soundtrack your Cinco de Mayo celebrations at home.
