MexiWeek – Mezcal Union: What mezcal and México needs is UNIÓN

Introducing Mezcal Unión, a traditionally made mezcal working with 50 families across the Oaxaca estate.

Mezcal Union started a journey to learn more about the greatness of Mezcal. Four friends toured the mountains from peak to peak, reaching a hill where there was a tree and there, rested a bit.

An old maestro mezcalero shared his Mezcal stories, and ideas, he also said that the only way to preserve the millenary tradition of producing artisanal Mezcal and generate progress was through uniting indigenous Mezcal producer families. This is how the project was born and continued the journey with a clear understanding of their path: Mezcal Unión carrying that message in every bottle. Respect, above all, the artisanal production of Mezcal. Provide social development and economic responsibility for our producer families. Ensure that the production of mezcal is self-sustaining. Quality of production and the wellbeing of the producers is our foundation.

What does it mean to Alejandro, founder of Mezcal Unión to be Mexican in 2020?

To be Mexican is to be cheerful, hospitable, authentic, friendly. We Mexicans have a commitment to our roots, to our culture, to our love for Mexico, and that commitment does not reside only in being born in this country, it resides in respect, pride, strength and love for our country.
