It’s TAMAL season! On February the 2nd, Mexicans eat tamales to celebrate ‘Día de la Candelaria’. Traditionally, the one who gets baby Jesus in the Rosca de Reyes on the 6th of Feb, is the one responsible for sorting out the tamaliza for the family or friends.
Tamales, are a traditional Mexican dish made with a corn masa mixture that is filled with various meats, salsa or a veggie mix, they can be either savoury or sweet. Tamales are wrapped and cooked in corn husks or banana leaves, but they are removed from the husks before eating. They are true comfort food as they are so wholesome, tasty and filling.
