Viva Frida, Viva México Fiesta Brings the Spirit of Coyoacán to Borough Yards This September
This September, London will be filled with the colours, flavours and creativity of Mexico as Viva Frida, Viva México Fiesta takes over Borough Yards for three unforgettable days of culture, food, music and community.
From 11–13 September 2026, MexiBrit will transform Borough Yards into a vibrant celebration inspired by Coyoacán, one of Mexico City’s most iconic neighbourhoods and the home of legendary artist Frida Kahlo.
Coinciding with Frida: The Making of an Icon at Tate Modern, the festival invites Londoners and visitors alike to experience the warmth and creativity that define one of Mexico’s most beloved cultural destinations.
Experience the Heart of Coyoacán
Known for its colourful streets, artisan markets, cafés and rich artistic heritage, Coyoacán has long been one of Mexico City’s cultural treasures. For one weekend only, Borough Yards will be transformed into a lively Mexican village inspired by its unique atmosphere.
Expect colourful decorations, music filling the streets, delicious aromas from authentic Mexican food stalls and a welcoming community spirit that celebrates the best of Mexico.

The festival coincides with Frida: The Making of an Icon at Tate Modern, offering visitors a wonderful opportunity to continue celebrating one of Mexico’s most influential artists.
Rather than focusing solely on Frida herself, Viva Frida, Viva México Fiesta celebrates the neighbourhood that shaped her life and artistic vision—bringing the colours, creativity and community spirit of Coyoacán to the heart of London.
